The Music Tastes Good Festival brought in the perfect fusion of grooves and grub to the shores of Long Beach. Two stages centered music, with artists ranging from Lil B to Broken Social Scene and New Order on Saturday’s line-up, with DE LUX, Janelle Monáe, and James Blake taking over for Sunday. To help create a family-friendly atmosphere, there was a dedicated kid’s area called ‘KIDS BE GOOD’ where the little ones could shake it out to a Drum Zone and Bubble Boogie.

The main star, next to the music, is the food which had its own performance element in addition to the variety of top-notch stalls. In ‘the taste tent,’ chefs took viewers through a demonstration on how to make some of their signature dishes. There was a food photography class and a mixologist show, all for a hungry audience that wrapped up in a happy hour towards sundown. Eight chefs served unique dishes each day, ranging from Vietnamese-style tacos, chicken fried mushroom po boys, gazpacho, and vegan jalapeno cheeseburgers.

Clothing vendors and eclectic art decorated the grounds, providing plenty of space for attendees to wind down and enjoy the atmosphere between acts (and to let their stomachs digest before dancing among the crowds).
